Over the past two years, I have been working with the Catholic Schools
Office of the Broken Bay Diocese (CSO), which was awarded the Work Cover NSW —
Safe Work Award in 2007. My work with schools involved consulting with
principals and school OHS representatives to identify goals and strategies to
achieve compliance with NSW OHS Legislation. Many private schools have also
adopted the CSO OHS Online Management System.
For 25 years, I was a teacher in primary schools in NSW, working as part of
the school executive team for 15 of those years. I gained a wealth of experience
implementing occupational health & safety and when I retired from teaching, I
was employed to assist schools develop best practice in occupational health &
safety.
From my experience in schools, I am aware of the increasing administrative
and educational obligations placed on schools. I also recognise that schools are
affected by OHS regulations that impose penalties for non compliance.
I recently established Safe Schools to serve the
OH&S needs of educational institutions and would be delighted to meet with you
to discuss where your organisation is at regarding OHS,
and to provide sound and practical advice to assist your school in moving forward.
